BRIAN STREET HOUSE

A Baroque-style log house from the second half of the 18th century was moved from A.Briāna Street 11 and placed at Ogļu Street 8 at the request of the Riga Construction Board. The buildings of this period are characterized by a mansard roof with a clay tile covering, and this marks the unique silhouette of the buildings. The building has not preserved such original facade details as windows and doors, window and door frames and cornices. Before dismantling, the facade of the building had narrow plank cladding and several later period both masonry and wooden extensions.
During the process of attaching the building, the original Baroque manor appearance of the building was completely restored. As a result of the reconstruction, the original layout structure of the building was restored. The plank cladding was removed from the facades, the walls are made of original logs. A new spiral staircase was made, and an attic floor was built.
A new extension with a veranda, swimming pool and garage has been added to the building in an austere style.
